The Indian Ambassador paid a visit and held a working session at the My Son Sanctuary

On January 14, 2026, the Ambassador of India to Vietnam, Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa, together with his delegation, paid a visit and held a working session at the My Son Sanctuary. The delegation was received by Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, Director of the Management Board of the My Son World Cultural Heritage.
Both sides reaffirmed the important role of the cooperation project for the preservation of the My Son World Cultural Heritage over the past period and agreed to continue implementing the conservation of Groups E-F.

 

Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet highly appreciated the conservation results achieved so far, which have contributed to the sustainable preservation of My Son Heritage and helped attract visitors to the site. He also proposed the early implementation of a program to build an Information Center at the My Son World Heritage Site to display research outcomes, conservation activities from projects involving Groups A, H, K, and E,F, as well as artifacts and information related to My Son. In addition, he emphasized the application of technology in exhibitions to promote the heritage and further attract tourists to the My Son World Heritage Site, and suggested considering continued funding for the restoration of Group A’ following the completion of the EF restoration project.

Mr. Van Ba Son stated that alongside heritage conservation, it is necessary to support and strengthen cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries. He stressed the importance of specific programs already connected by the Department, such as cooperation with the Indian Tourism Association, opening flight routes to regions in India, and cultural activities including the organization of International Yoga Day and Indian Cultural Week in Da Nang.
 

The Ambassador expressed his sincere thanks for the warm reception by the Department and the Management Board, and highly valued the cooperation between the two sides in preserving My Son Heritage. He noted that the My Son conservation project has received strong attention from the Prime Minister of India, and that the Embassy reports monthly to the Prime Minister on this matter.

Several proposals from the My Son Management Board and the Department were also included in the general contents discussed earlier that morning with the Chairman of Da Nang City, who welcomed the ideas and proposals. It was agreed that further coordination should be conducted with relevant agencies such as the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the Ministry of Culture of India, and their Vietnamese counterparts. The Ambassador also visited Group E,F, which has been under conservation and restoration since February 2025.
