GIẢI PHÁP BẢO TỒN HỐ KHAI QUẬT ĐƯỜNG DẪN THÁP K

On May 28, senior officials from the Institute for Conservation, staff from the Institute of Archaeology, and the leadership of the Mỹ Sơn Cultural Heritage Management Board were present at Tower K to discuss urgent conservation measures for the current condition of the excavation pit of the pathway to Tower K.

After observing the terrain and assessing the actual site conditions, it was determined that the excavation pit is located in a low-lying area and is highly vulnerable to impacts from upcoming floods and the rainy season. The parties held discussions and agreed on a set of specific conservation solutions. These include: constructing drainage trenches to divert rainwater from the northern slopes, draining groundwater from the excavation pit to the outside, building a protective shelter, and conserving and reinforcing the original structural blocks of the exposed pathway.

The urgent conservation works are required to be completed before mid-July 2024 (prior to the flood season). Materials used for reinforcement must be compatible with the original ones. The protective shelter must not only safeguard the relic but also harmonize with the landscape and facilitate site visitation.
