Mỹ Sơn hân hoan đón đoàn khách “xông đất đầu năm” nhân dịp Tết dương lịch 1.1.2026

Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary warmly welcomes the first visitors of the New Year on the occasion of the Western New Year.”

The early spring journey at the My Son Sanctuary takes visitors through distinctive cultural values and meaningful experiences symbolizing a fortunate beginning for the New Year. On January 1, 2026, the Mỹ Sơn World Cultural Heritage Management Board organizes a series of meaningful springtime experiential programs to welcome the New Year. The journey begins with the program “Welcoming the First Visitors to the Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary in 2026.” Visitors are delighted by the artistic performance “Welcoming the New Year” and receive meaningful gifts, including fresh flower garlands and statues of Ganesha (the deity believed to bring good fortune and remove obstacles in life) conveying wishes for a year of luck, peace, and prosperity.

An indispensable early-year tradition, this activity has become a beautiful cultural practice, marking the significant transitional moment between the old year and the new - closing one chapter and opening a new year filled with hope and fresh beginnings.

Continuing the journey, visitors are invited to take part in the program “Cham Folk Singing Experience.” Guests have the opportunity to interact with Cham men and women who vividly recreate traditional folk songs such as Daoh Mâyut (songs of affection), Daoh Dam Dara (antiphonal singing), and Puec Jal (net-casting songs). These melodies blend harmoniously with the sounds of traditional instruments like the Ginang and Paranung drums and the Saranai trumpet, creating a unique and engaging cultural experience.

Throughout the day’s program series, visitors can also enjoy the experience “Offering Hồng Đào (peach blossom) Wine” at the performance hall which is an artistic activity closely associated with Vietnamese cultural life during New Year gatherings. Sharing a cup of wine at Tết has long become a cultural custom and a refined form of social interaction, symbolizing farewell to the old year and extending best wishes for the year ahead.
Marking the beginning of a new year with special significance is the artistic performance “Echoes of Mỹ Sơn.” The program consists of three chapters: “The Flow of Time,” “Cham Folk Songs of Po-Nai,” and “Ascending the Towers.” Visitors are immersed in the sacred cultural space of this holy land, rich in cultural identity and vibrant folk dances. Against the backdrop of ancient towers, Cham girls wearing Ciet headdresses, draped in Jnam shawls, gracefully dance with fans in their hands. Their elegant and heartfelt movements reenact the ritual of welcoming the sacred garments of the deities brought by the Raglai people to the temple, lifting them onto the towers, and performing the ceremonial bathing and dressing of the deity during an important religious festival.
