RADIANT “COLORS OF HERITAGE” – A CULTURAL SYMPHONY IN THE HEART OF THE ANCIENT TOWERS

On the occasion of the celebrations of Southern Liberation Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1), the Department of Culture and Arts organized the “Colors of Heritage” festival performance at My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, attracting a large number of visitors. Carefully choreographed and structured into four parts, the program offered a vibrant artistic journey that harmoniously connected tradition and modernity.

Part 1: The Call of the Festival Season
The program opened with “The Call of the Festival Season,” as the resounding beats of ceremonial drums awakened the sacred atmosphere of the ancient towers. Performances such as Spring Returns to the Ancient Towers, Joyful Kate Festival, and Echoes of Kate Festival Drums brought vivid colors and lively energy, recreating the festive spirit of the Cham people’s traditional celebrations. Graceful dances, brilliant costumes, and distinctive folk music evoked pride in cultural heritage, opening a vibrant artistic space as a festive welcome to the nation’s grand holiday season.

Part 2: Cultural Exchange and Traditional Craft Village Showcase – “Colors of Culture”
The second part of the program presented an interactive cultural exchange and traditional craft village showcase under the theme “Colors of Culture.” Musical and dance performances such as The Soul of the Pottery Village and Threads of Many Colors paid tribute to the beauty of labor and the craftsmanship of local artisans. Through the imagery of traditional craft villages, the program portrayed a simple yet creative cultural life, where each handmade product carries not only practical value but also profound cultural significance. This segment also offered visitors an opportunity to experience, engage, and gain deeper insight into the values that have been preserved across generations.

Part 3: Cham Folk Art Performance
The third segment invited the audience into the mystical world of Cham folk art. The graceful Apsara dances, the powerful rhythms of the Ginang drums, the resonant melodies of the Saranai trumpet, and the Kaing dance together created an artistic space rich in Cham cultural identity. These performances were not merely artistic displays; they also reflected the spiritual life, customs, and traditions of the Cham people, highlighting the enduring value of intangible cultural heritage that continues to be preserved and promoted.

Part 4: “Return to the Ancient Towers” – Echoes of Memory and Aspiration
The program concluded with Return to the Ancient Towers, a profound and emotionally resonant artistic symphony. Performances such as The Call of the Tower Land, Rija Harei Ritual, and Cham Festival Splendor vividly recreated the spiritual life of the indigenous community in connection with the sacred temple-tower complex. The fusion of performing arts and heritage space created a unique experience, guiding the audience back to the depth of spiritual life and beliefs, while also allowing them to sense the pulse of contemporary life continuing the flow of cultural tradition.

“Colors of Heritage” was not only a celebratory program for the national holidays, but also a testament to the Department of Culture and Arts’ commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural values of Cham heritage. Amid the mystical atmosphere of My Son Sanctuary, each performance became a story, each melody a bridge between past and present—ensuring that heritage is not only safeguarded, but continues to shine in contemporary life.
