The My Son Management Board of Cutural Heritage coordinated with the Institute of Archaeology to carry out an archaeological survey of the K tower on the morning of June 14, 2023, according to the Decision No. 1156/QD-BVHTTDL of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism dated on May 4th, 2023.
K tower is located in the northwest of My Son valley, it’s about 600m far from B-C-D groups. K tower is a gate tower forward the East - West axis. It is adjacent to Khe The stream in the west and its east face to the central groups. K tower was built in the 11th and 12th centuries, firstly discovered by the École Franiaise D’Etreme Orient (EFEO) from 1903s to 1904s, K tower only had two walls left in the North and the South. The South face still has a tympan of the goddess Brahmi on the false door arch, the roof had completely collapsed since it was discovered. In the early 20th century, French experts revealed small parts of the two walls in the East. They were considered that the two walls of a path from K tower connecting to the central groups to the East. In 2017, these two walls were revealed again about 27 meters length by the Archaeological Survey of India Experts (ASI) while K tower was renovating. However, the Western area adjacent to Khe The stream, the two walls and area around K tower have not yet fully revealed. This archaeological survey with area of a 20 meters square in the East and West of K tower was carried out by Archaeological Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Quy.
