Tiếp tục khai quật đường dẫn từ tháp cổng K tại Khu đền tháp Mỹ Sơn

According to the decision on archaeological exploration and excavation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism No. 3567/QĐBVHTTDL on November 22, 2023, permitted the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board to coordinate with the Institute of Archaeology to explore and excavate archaeological East of  KTower, Mỹ Sơn relic, Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province with an area of 220m2 in March and April 2024.

K Tower was excavated and documented by French experts (EFEO) from the first decades of the 20th century, dating to about the 11th and 12th centuries. Through description, French scholars have identified this work as a gate that opens in the East-West direction and has a brick wall, the relief is a three-headed, two-handed statue, a lion statue, the architecture has two gables, no epitaphs found...Ect.

Comparing photos and drawings from the early 20th century, K tower collapsed at the top of the wall during a time of oblivion in the forest. In 2016 and 2017, Indian experts conducted exploration, archaeological excavation, and restoration of the K tower area, this process has revealed more than 02 walls covering nearly 20 meters of the path located east of tower K, however, many Indian experts do not continue to excavate more. These two brick walls start from the K gate tower along the East, towards the main temple groups in the heart of My Son Valley, and at the same time discovered many ceramic artifacts and architectural components. To continue to excavate, preserve, and promote the value of the K gate tower area, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board coordinated with the Institute of Archaeology to explore the West and East sides of K Tower in 2023. The results show that the two brick walls of the path from K Tower continue along the East.

Based on the results of previous exploration excavations, the excavation in 2024  continues to preserve and promote the K tower. It concurrently clarifies the role, function, the construction history and strengthens the hypothesis on the pilgrimage road to the My Son ancient tower groups.
