On the afternoon of February 18th, 2025, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Appraisal Council for the Planning Task of Conservation, Restoration, and Rehabilitation of the Special National Relic Site – Mỹ Sơn Temple Complex (towards 2030, with a vision to 2050) held a meeting to approve the planning task.
The appraisal session was chaired by Dr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Chairman of the Council. Also present was Mr. Phan Thai Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and a council member.
The meeting was attended by council members, including scientists, managers, and representatives from various ministries and sectors. Additionally, Mr. Dang Huu Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Duy Xuyen District People's Committee, and Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, Director of the Mỹ Sơn Cultural Heritage Management Board, participated as representatives of local authorities and the management board.

The Planning, Conservation, Restoration, and Rehabilitation Task for the National Special Relic: Mỹ Sơn Temple Complex, until 2030, with a vision for 2050, is being managed by the Mỹ Sơn World Heritage Site Management Board and the consulting unit is Hanoi Planning Joint Stock Company.
The conservation and enhancement planning for the Mỹ Sơn site (2008-2020) has expired. However, the number of work and tasks carried out according to the plan have only been partially implemented. Meanwhile, during the process of implementing the planning contents, many emerging issues have arisen, including new discoveries that contribute to the site's values. The natural conditions, socio-economic factors, and tourism service development needs have also changed significantly, leading to difficulties in management, protection, mobilizing social resources for conservation, enhancing the value, , investing in essential infrastructure services, and tourism development.
At the appraisal meeting, many scientists and managers participated in the debate, focusing on the key task of emphasizing heritage conservation, strengthening scientific research efforts. Opinions also suggested that the documentation should clarify the planning boundaries, connect the planning with local planning, and the planning of Quang Nam Province, ensuring the management and conservation of the cultural and historical landscape of Mỹ Sơn, as well as exploiting the surrounding potential advantages.

Conclusion of the working session , deputy minister Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized that the planning task should be adjusted to the phase until 2035 to allow enough time for the implementation of the proposed projects once approved. He requested that the planning be completed as soon as possible, ideally within 2025-2026, and that the planning task should be submitted to the Prime Minister in the first quarter of 2025 to ensure the project is implemented on time. He also requested the authorities of Quang Nam Province to urgently coordinate with related sectors, incorporate feedback from experts and managers, and complete the necessary additions.
